自拍课 ＋ Jacky's Gig!

昨天晚上跟 Dear Dear 去看 Jacky 的表演。因为之前有事，所以有点赶。还好，虽然迟到了一点点，但并没有错过他的演出。之前的乐队还在表演的时候，Dear Dear 跟我到外面去，Dear Dear 还给我上了一堂“自拍”课！

我的自拍一向很烂，不是没有头，就是半张脸；要不就是两个人拍的时候，只拍到一张脸…咳… 这次Dear Dear 帮我把相机的角度摆好，终于……

咦？拍到了！！！ 

OK…这次自己摆….

呃…拍到了… 可是上面太多空位了….(而且是很难看的一张照片～～)

相机再往下压一点～～

OK! 呃… 这次旁边好像又太多空位了！

开始没耐性了…再试最后一次！

还是不行！！

 

Ok 啦…至少没有没头没下巴…哈哈哈！

《花木兰》Hua Mulan Movie Preview 23-11-2009 (Review)

Thanks to omy.sg for the invite to the preview of 《花木兰》! I’m quite a movie addict so nothing beats a night out watching a great film!

Dear Dear went to the preview with me since omy.sg has generously provided a pair of tickets!

All right! On to the movie review… I didn’t take very long to decide on what to include in my little review, but I took really really long to decide on what language to write it in – English or Chinese.

《花木兰》

Most of us know the Mulan story about how a girl goes to war in place of her old and weak father, and how she won battles and killed enemies for her country. It is a well-known story about filial piety and loyalty to the country, so one wonders, before watching the film, how this movie can be interesting, and provide us a story from a different angle.

The director successfully achieved it by re-telling the story with many elements of love and struggle. The story follows《木兰辞》closely but also led the audience to see the underlying struggles of Mulan (Vicki Zhao) as she leads a soldier’s life, the love that was developed between Mulan and Wentai (Chen Kun) and the brotherly love that was established among her men. The director has presented the story to us in a more human and personal manner, allowing us to see Mulan not just as a war hero, but also a human with feelings.

Anti-war sentiments were clear in this film as the brutality and cruelty of war were clearly depicted. Because of war, families were torn apart. The character Xiucai who painted his supposed wife on a piece of wood and the words he said before his death presented the pain of separation from close ones vehemently. Nobody wants war, not even the soldiers. Nobody wants to kill, quoting Mulan, who said to Wentai, “你不是害怕，不是不敢，你是不愿意。”The decision of going to war lies on the rulers, never the people, never the soldiers, which reminded me of the Tom Cruise movie “Valkyrie”. In this film, Mendu’s people have decided to retreat back to their land, but it was Mendu (Hu Jun) who could not take a lying down and decided to go on with the war. People yearns for peace, it’s the ambition of the rulers that kills so many in a war.

Wentai mentions to Mulan that he would do anything, even if it takes his life to have the war ended. He did what he could to stop the war eventually (I’ll try not to give away the story ending… :P), placing country above self. Same for Mulan, who in the last scene encouraged Wentai to make the right decision.

Personally, I felt that the front parts of the movie were too fast paced and seemed to be focused just on story-telling and bringing the audience through the plot, not allowing any room for the intricate development of the story or the characters. Of course, I understand that the duration of the movie is not 987 hours so there are constrains, haha, but I still felt that it was a tad too fast. For example, one or two more scenes could have been given to Xiaohu (Fang Zu Ming) and Wu Gui ( Li Jiu Zhe) to show the change of their relationship from enemies to friends. This would make the scene where Wu Gui ignores Mulan’s orders and tried to save Xiaohu, much more powerful.

I like the little humors weaved into the film, especially by Xiaohu and Wugui, who were no doubt important characters in the film, but provided necessary comic relief at times. As for the part played by Vitas, initially I thought that it seemed more like a role tailored just to include him in the movie. With or without him, there wouldn’t be much of a difference, though I still went, “Hey! That’s Vitas!” But on closer look, perhaps the character serves to contrast Mendu’s father’s character with Mendu, and also, the character plays a part in the final assassination as well Oh, and the young Mulan, if you look closely, you would realized that it was played by the girl who played Stephen Chow’s son in CJ7!

Actually, my favourite was the whole part where Xiaohu sacrificed himself. I would label it very much the climax of the whole movie. The whole portrayal of that scene, together with the war song that the Wei soldiers were singing brings out really strong emotions and ties up all the themes of love, sacrifice and war.

I love the end of the year rainy and cool weather, or i should say its my favourite time of the year! I never liked the blazing hot sun... Its raining today and the breeze is cooling and i've got nothing to do at home... its paradise isn't it? Dear just left home for work so its just Kele and me at home and with so much time on my hands...here i am...blogging! heheh... and its just some backdated events and photos!


Reanne and Xiuping's Birthday

Its been near 10 years since our JC days and i'm so glad that this group of us are still meeting up once in every few months. And, not all of us are from the same JC... we met when we were in our first 3 months where all of us were in CJC. Our short 3 months of schooling life together bounded us together for the next ten years,and more to come.

All these gatherings and meetings wouldn't have been possible without Liqing, who was the one who organizes all our little meetings and birthday celebrations. Our university days were easier for her but once everyone stepped into the working life, it has been very tough to find a common day for us to meet but Liqing will always try her best and pre-book us at least one month in advance for our meet-ups. Thanks Qing! Without you i'm sure we wouldn't be so close!

Ivy's Birthday

Went late for Ivy's birthday celebration as i went to meet Liqing and gang. She rented a service apartment and had a little party there. I never knew we could rent service apartments! I always thought chalets and hotels were the only options if we needed a getaway! The place was beautifully furnished and looked very much like a hotel suite!

We played games that came from the variety show 天才冲冲冲. It was like charades, but the person doing the actions had to listen to a song he or she chose, and do the actions of the lyrics...in the same tempo as the song. Tough job, not as easy as it sounds! We were split into 2 teams and every time one team guesses correctly, the other team had to down beer. If the team didn't get the correct answer, they had to down the beer themselves. So poor dear dear had to drink 2 shares of beer when our team lost. Why? He was drinking for me. I can't take alcohol. Hahaha...

“A Christmas Carol” Exclusive Preview Movie Contest

I remember the Christmas play I performed in when I was in primary school and it was about Ebenezer Scrooge too! I played a little fairy showing Scrooge what Christmas should be about and how he should learn to share... That was such a long time ago but this movie is certainly going to bring back fond memories! This Christmas season, let's re-visit this classic tale in 3D!



This time, Jim Carrey will be taking up the challenge of playing 4 characters in this movie,
1) Ebenezer Scrooge
2) Ghost of Christmas Past
3) Ghost of Christmas Present

I'm looking forward to watch the rubber-face man's amazing performance again!

生病了

星期一回到家的时候觉得不对劲，
一直觉得很冷，又一直打喷嚏。
坐在沙发上看电视，
越来越不舒服，
摸一摸额头，
啊～～发烧了....

这两天就留在家里休息，
哪里都没去。
Dear Dear 很体贴地帮我买饭，
很有耐心地照顾我，
喔...病了都不会觉得太辛苦，呵呵～～

现在烧退了，
只是还是有点头晕，
还是早点睡吧！

喔！题外话...
今天有稀客到访喔！
心丽经过我家附近，
便过来坐一坐！
我们难得见面，
还聊了很多很多！
看到她现在很幸福为她觉得高兴呢！

好几个星期前帮Captain Planet庆祝生日，
到天天火锅店吃了丰富的晚餐！
咳，新加坡怎么都吃不到鸭血、猪血了呢？
很想念在台中的鼎王火锅店的麻辣锅配鸭血喔！
Vincent和Min本来也该过来跟我们一起吃但是后来有事没办法过来，
就剩下我们几个咯...

吃饭的时候只顾着吃，

我只在台中按过，

后青春期的诗

一个十年就这样悄悄地，不知不觉地过去了。

不是没有想念学生时代的朋友，

只是很多时候找不到一个去联络大家的理由。

如果不是美珊婚礼的时候让大家再次见面，

说好一定出来聚一聚，

可能又要等上多一个十年才会在某个地方碰上。

Dear Dear 跟我说很多时候大家碰到都会说“有空出来meet-up!”，

可是往往都好像是场面话，

也没有人会去办聚会。

这次我主动了喔，

婚礼那天约好的那几个，

一定要出来聚一聚！

这个聚会超容易搞的！

Facebook send 了个 message 给大家，

他们的回应都超快的。

更何况，连日期时间都不用改。

聚会的时候 Brian 说了一句很逗的话，

“你们全部都没有 life 的啊！一叫就来！”

呵呵～～

I had a really good laugh!!

一念之差！不难！

以前麻木地过了很多年。伟强骂了我一千一万次我都听不进去。不管是什么事，我总是觉得听不到看不到感觉不到是好事。就算听得到看得到感觉得到我也不会有什么反应。不在乎就没有要求，没有埋怨，没有争执。这样的生活真的不错。后来可能压抑太久的情绪爆发了出来，自己选择了用相反的方式生活，才发现我是有血有肉的。但是，同个时候，争执与不愉快就会出现。解决得了，加分。大家对于任何事都更了解。解决不了，完蛋。

Anyway...

我知道现在已经是半夜三点半了，但是我其实刚刚去了一趟 NTUC (我家这里的NTUC 是开24小时的喔～～）。买了牙刷、漂白水、toilet brush 还有一个拖把的“头”，就是那个毛毛的，可以更换的那里...喔！还真的不知道那个叫什么... 我原本想去买咖啡的。我最爱的 Cafe 21 又没有货了！Arghh...结果，在超市绕啊绕啊，买了本来没有想要买的一堆东西。As the saying goes... never leave a woman alone in a supermarket.... haiz...

在路上帮了一个人，感觉很不错！
